Treatment and Symptoms of Migraine

MIGRAINE:
Migraine is a primary headache of varying intensity, often accompanied by sensory warning signs such as nausea, blind spots, tingling in the arms and legs, vomiting, sensitivity to light and sound. The pain that migraine brings can last for hours sometimes even for days. Migraine is an inherited tendency to have headaches with sensory disturbance. Migraine is an instability in the way the brain deals with incoming sensory information and that instability can become influenced by physiological changes like sleep, exercise and hunger.
CAUSES OF MIGRAINE:
Migraine is an important public health problem. Few of the causes of migraine are stated as follows:
· Hyper tension
· Change in sleep patterns or irregular sleep
· Allergies ad allergic reactions
· Physical or emotional stress, anxiety, depression and excitement
· Dehydration
· Skipping meals
· Alcohol and smoking
· Hormonal triggers
· Medication such as sleeping pills, contraceptive pills.
SYMPTOMS OF MIGRAINE:
Symptoms of migraine can start a while before the headache, during headache and after the headache. As all migraines are not the same the symptoms may vary. Typical symptoms of migraine include:
· Loss of sensation
· Inability to perform regular activities due to pain
· Visual disturbance
· Stiffness in shoulders, neck or limbs
· Difficulty in speaking
· Unpleasant smells
· Physically vomiting
· Increasing pain during physical activity
· Sweating, temperature change, stomach ache and diarrhoea
TREATMENT FOR MIGRAINE:
There is no single cure for migraine. The only thing you can do is alter your lifestyle a little which will help you reduce migraine frequently.
· Get enough sleep
· Reducing stress
· Drinking plenty of water
· Eat a lot of almonds
· Regular Physical exercise
Migraines are mostly undiagnosed and untreated. If you regularly experience signs and symptoms of migraine attacks, do keep a record of your migraine attacks and how you treated them. Then make an appointment and visit the doctor to discuss about your migraine attacks.
